LOOK! When you steal music, overproduced from Nixon's warrentless wiretaps, don't lord it over Reagan's punkers, and come back to America:

Have a bad HSN-QVC SHOPPING EXPERIENCE: Let IMAN go on with kaftans, 30 years after her mafia skank-hubby DAVID BOWIE duped Nixon's W.E.S., to twit ME, for playing guitar so well, Bowie and AC-ZZ duped me and blew off Reagan geeks like Vanilla Ice, when they stole my riffs AND Iran's assets, AND THAT'S THE WAY IT IS, for Ted Poe and any other idiot with his thumb up Reagan's ass.

Why does Iman get into the US, with nukes hot, and her ripoff DAVE riotously tipping off then-revolutionary action?

Excuse ME! But Dave and QEII got Diana dead, in the meantime, or are you too full of BRIT to know what else they drive, into our pathways?

Friday June 5th
Great American Music Hall

Under siege by the enemies of Music and Fun, and threatening to be closed, Suffragette City Music Hall reaches out across the dimensions to its terrestrial sister club, Great American Music Hall for one night only!

Featured performers are: Barry Syska's Fantasy Orchestra and 5 Cent Coffee

The event will be DJed by Skip (New Wave City) and MzSamantha (Clockwork, The Box). MCed by Psychokitty, and of course the key ingredient is you, as we all come together for BOWIE BALL!!!

Read more below, or go back to http://www.swinggoth.com/bowieball09

You might have heard of Bowie.

In the 60's he was Davey Jones, a potential British Invader who's name was robbed from him by a Monkey. Still, who can forget The Laughing Gnome?

In the 70's he was Major Tom, The Man Who Fell to Earth and Sold the World, Ziggy Stardust, The Diamond Dog, and The Thin White Duke...

In the 80's he rose from the Ashes, turned into a vampire, was promoted from Duke to King (of the goblins - talk about Scary Monsters!), fell into Modern Love with a China Girl, and we all took shelter Underground as The World Fell Down…

In the 90's he dawned a White Tie, took a step Outside, and became an Earthling.

This is our chance to celebrate EVERYTHING Bowie. All in one night.

It promises to be an event to remember! Come in costume, come to spectate, come to dance, but you'll regret it if you don't come.

Dance lessons for "Absolute Beginners" from 8:30-9:45 consist of two rotations and three instructors teaching Swing, Waltz and Blues dancing. In these lessons you'll learn the basics required to fully participate in the Ball to follow.

$15 in advance, $20 at the door
Buy your tickets now to make sure you get one!

New at Wolfgang's Vault... Glass Spider Tour!

http://concerts.wolfgangsvault.com/ConcertDetail.aspx?id=20049787%7C1647&utm_source=NL&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=071031

While it's true that this show was, in many ways, super silly, stuff like "Sons of the Silent Age", "Big Brother", "Up the Hill Backwards" and "All the Madmen" make it pretty invaluable musically. In some ways, it's the deepest "album cuts" tour he ever did.

Also, available on Wolfgang's Vault, an absolutely astonishing Heroes tour show.

(If you haven't used Wolfgang's Vault, it's free. Wolfgang is a guy who bought a large hunk of Bill Graham's estate which included many many boxes of live shows that Graham had recorded. Wolfgang allows you to stream these shows free in order to draw people to the site to try and sell the other memorabilia.)

"bowie" on flight of the conchords

Flight of the Conchords is an HBO show about these two guys from New Zealand with a band trying to make it in the big city. It is the awesome. On one episode, Brett is visited in a dream by David Bowie. Okay, so unlike Ricky Gervais, Brett and Jermain didn't actually get the man himself... but Jermaine does a mean Bowie:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxtbJf5E9i4

And it's all built around this song, which frankly I think is funnier in concert. But the ep is still worth watching. And here's the song:

His lyrics, with perfect intonation
remain in my short term memory
virtually permanently.. what poetic
skills! from an interstitial on Outside
(this album is clairvoyant..):

Old Touchshriek was the main name server,
suspected of being a shoulder-surfer;
but he didn't know from shit about charge-response systems...
Now Ramona A. Stone we knew was selling interest drugs
she got males all hung up on the mind-filters...
She was, if you don't mind me sayin' so, an up-date dame...
Now Leon, he couldn't wait for twelve o'clock midnight,
he jumps up on the stage, with a crisp, crisp machete
and slashes around, cuttin' a zero in everything, I mean,
a zero in the fabric of time itself...was this a suspect?
I sez to myself, whoa! gail courage! oh wait! I'm getting ahead of myself!
let me take you back to when it all began...

beautiful, no? ( I like concept albums..)

Uke-y Stardust - The Final Chapter

For the last time, the Ukulele Apocalypse presents...

"The Rise and Fall of Uke-y Stardust and the Spiders From Mars"

About a year ago I had a stupid idea, "We should," I thought, "get as many ukulele players as we could to play one seminal classic rock album from beginning to end." There was no question which record it should be.

This stupid idea exploded. Bands were formed, friends were made, projects grew out of projects and eventually, the whole thing had gained a life of its own. In this last year we've performed this show 4 times, "Purple Rain - When Ukes Cry", "Everything's a Dollar in this Box - Tom Waits on Cheap Instruments", "Plinkity Pleasures 1 and 2" and about a zillion other gigs all around the Bay Area.

And now it's time to move on, but not without propping the Starman up one last time to say goodbye.

So here it is...
The show that started it all, from the creators of "Purple Rain - When Ukes Cry". It's an entire evening of David Bowie, culminating in his glam rock masterpiece, from beginning to end, on ukulele.

You heard us.

Featuring - Five Cent Coffee, Just Henry, Liquor Cake, Megan Lynch and Stella!

David Bowie recently won a lifetime achievement award at the Webbys, where acceptance speeches are limited to five words.

"I only get five words?" Bowie asked, before continuing: "Shit, that was five. Four more there. That's three," winding up with: "Two," before rapidly exiting the stage.

God, I love that man.

Greetings fellow Bowiephiles! From what I have read this seems to be the most active and current tribe for Bowie. I look foreward to learning quite a bit more about the man and his music...as well as some trivia and fan facts. Although I didn`t really become an avid Bowie fan until 1984, after living in Switzerland and Germany for a summer. Before this time ,growing up, my only exposure to David`s music were his more mainstream offerings ...the "hits" like Rebel,Rebel , Changes, Jean Geanie, Sufragette City, Young Americans, etc. I gave up trying to pigeonhole Bowie into a particular musical style(s) years ago. Bowie`s genius of fusing music and stage presence into Rock Album Mythos is uncanny.
Unfortunately, I have only had opportunities to see Bowie two times in concert. Some loyal fan,eh? The Sound+Vision Tour of `90--his telling the audience they would never hear him play the "old" stuff again. With Tin Machine in `91/92 at the Warfield in SF was the other time. Gee...I was so excited about being in a pro-Bowie environment that I just kept "blabbing". Asleep yet?
for the longest time I thought this song was about forced Martian colonization, with the lyrics being "5 years stuck on mars". it's still one of my all time favorites even after learning he rally sings "stuck on my eyes".

from Friends of the High Line (highline.org):
DAVID BOWIE ANNOUNCES HIGH LINE FESTIVAL
On May 8, David Bowie announced he will curate the first annual High Line Festival in May 2007. Bowie co-founded the series, which will feature ten days of music, art, film, and performance in venues throughout the High Line neighborhood.

from davidbowie.com:
You're always first on the High Line...

David Bowie today announced plans for a return to the concert stage next year when he curates the first HIGH LINE FESTIVAL, a new annual arts and music event for NYC, established by David Bowie himself, David Binder and Josh Wood.

THE HIGH LINE FESTIVAL will be shaped each year by a different visionary curator, and as first curator David will be the creative voice behind the festival in May 2007, choosing a diverse collection of artists and musicians who inspire him and capture his point of view.

The 10-day marathon event will take place at street level and at neighbouring venues alongside the High Line, New York’s biggest and most prestigious public works project in over 50 years – a public park is being created from the abandoned elevated train tracks on New York City’s West Side.

THE HIGH LINE FESTIVAL will include music, nightlife, visual art, performance and film – featuring superstars and emerging talent – all of which celebrate the spirit of David Bowie’s creative vision, and it will culminate in an enormous outdoor David Bowie concert, his first full show in New York City since the Reality Tour hit Madison Square Garden on December 15, 2003, see picture above.

His live performance will be enjoyed by tens of thousands of spectators at the festival itself, while millions more will experience the concert online and on satellite radio.

As co-founder of THE HIGH LINE FESTIVAL, David Bowie will help choose future iconic curators from the diverse world of music, film and the performing arts. The curators and performances they chose will be as diverse as New York City itself.

DB is clearly very keen to get on with the task ahead of him, and his enthusiasm was obvious when he spoke of the festival earlier today: "As David, Josh and I have been formulating our plans, I’ve been particularly excited about seeking out emerging artists and giving them a place in a Festival that will also feature some very well-known names. That will be an ongoing mission of The High Line Festival – to offer performances and exhibitions that are unique and original to New York. I am proud and honoured to be The High Line Festival’s first curator and I am eager to start building the line-up for Spring 2007."

David Binder, one of Bowie's two co-founders, had this to say about our man and THE HIGH LINE FESTIVAL: "Throughout his legendary career David Bowie has always been at the forefront of music and art – so he is the perfect artist to shape the inaugural Festival. His eye for talent and his passion for emerging artists is nothing short of spectacular. One of the most exciting things about the Festival for me is how different curators will actually change the complete flavour of the event each year – curators can be filmmakers, musicians, painters, someone with passion and vision."

The other co-founder, Josh Wood, was equally excited about the event: "David Bowie has been our inspiration. He knows a lot about a lot of different things. He’s also the consummate New Yorker. We’re interested in producing a Festival that is as wonderfully wild, intelligent and eclectic as David Bowie’s legendary career. It’s so right that he’ll be calling the creative shots for the first Festival, and we’re looking forward to working with him for years to come. All three of us are also excited about placing the Festival along New York City’s High Line – it will be the coolest stretch on the New York calendar along the coolest stretch of the City."

Stay tuned to BowieNet for a full schedule of programming for THE HIGH LINE FESTIVAL over the coming months.

Life on Mars? re-enters UK charts

from davidbowie.com news, compiled by a fan...
04.15.2007 NEWS: LIFE ON MARS BACK IN THE UK SINGLES CHART

He's in the best selling show...

Congratulations are due to David Bowie with the news that his 1971 classic Life On Mars? has re-entered the UK single chart at #55 today.

This placing has come about due to changes to the way the chart is compiled in the UK, whereby downloaded tracks are now eligible for chart placings along with physical sales of CDs and vinyl too.

The sudden extra interest in the song is reckoned to be mainly down to its use in the popular UK time travelling cop show of the same name. (04.07.2007 NEWS: LIFE ON MARS ENDS ON TUESDAY WITH TWO BOWIE CLASSICS)

You may be surprised to learn that the last time Life On Mars? charted in the UK, it was at #97...This was the Lifetimes issue of the single released in 1983. Previous to that, the original UK single (above) peaked at #3 in 1973.

Consider the possibilities if a concerted effort was made to actually promote another Bowie download of this calibre. Imagine a Top 20 brimming with Bowie tunes...it's possible I tell you!

Bowie waxes nostalgic about his job at a record store as a teen

from NME.com
David Bowie behind the counter

This month on Music Recommenders, David Bowie recalls his first taste of the Rock highlife, working at Furlongs record shop in Bromley. It was here that he experienced what he calls the “intoxicating power” of recommending. “Working in a record shop was pretty much a labour of love. It’s more a vocation that a normal job and I think that holds true today,” he explains. “I’m not comparing it to nursing, but it has to be up there with teaching.” Below is an extract from the article, for the full piece visit www.musicrecommenders.com

David Bowie: A London Boy
"So, aged thirteen, maybe fourteen, I got my first real big break. Saturday mornings and sometimes Wednesday after school, I would dress to impress and style my hair just right before making my way to Bromley South.

It was at Furlongs I got my first real taste of how things could be. Furlongs was owned and run by the pipe-smoking Vic Furlong, an intense man in his forties who was the perpetual jazzer/college type...New Orleans was his thing.

Furlongs was the record shop. For absolute integrity and a huge stock of jazz, r&b and pure blues, there was nowhere else like it until London itself.

It was here that the power of recorded music struck home. I don't mean it was where I discovered music, (I had already discovered that power through Little Richard and Elvis) no, it was more how those bits of black plastic could affect other people's behaviour.

Getting a job behind the counter at Vic's place, albeit part-time, was enough to boost my cred a hundred fold. It had an effect on the girls...an effect I liked...and, erm, another effect on the boys...quite a different effect. "

why bowie is better than god

Why Bowie is better than God

taken from www.white-man-killer.com/bowie/bowievgod.html [defunct]: a fan site

1. We know for certain that David exists.
2. David has cooler clothes; God's billowing robes are just so passe.
3. David is less prone to smiting sinners (a definite plus).
4. If you hear God's voice in your head, you're probably crazy.
5. If you hear Bowie's voice in your head, you may be crazy, but at least you have something to sing along to.
6. David looks better naked than God does. (Conclusion based on appearances in "The Man Who Fell To Earth" and the uncensored "China Girl" video)
7. God couldn't tease his hair that high, even during the 80's.
8. God can't play the guitar.
9. David has better shoes.
10. David is richer.
11. David is still attractive.
12. God probably looks like Mick Jagger or Keith Richards by now.
13. Going to a Bowie concert is a lot more fun than church.
14. God doesn't paint his toenails.
15. God's too uptight.
16. People don't corner you at malls to tell you that "Bowie loves you."
17. David looks better in a dress.

Take the 'Starman 'challenge

I have a friend here @ tribe that loves DB
today I found this in my imbox
I thought I share :

I'm taking a bit of a leap here on a completely unreasonable, irrational trip.

January 22nd is my birthday, and I want something unique or personal from David Bowie.

I don't know him personally, and I can think of all kinds of reasons this would never come to pass, but... my intuition (or psychotic whimsy) is bidding I go with it.

David is my favorite musical artist of all time, and over a week ago, his "Starman" song is still haunting me (enjoyably) -coming and going in my head every day.

I believe this is providence!

So, the challenge I offer you is this:

Write or call David Bowie and tell him my birthday wish!

Point him to my profile so he can get my jive.

My hope is that he'll be struck by some inspiration and find within himself the perfect thing to do or send for my birthday.

No autographs, albums, posters, tickets, etc!

I'm talking about something like a hug from the Starman himself; a personal interview; a web-cam seranade of Starman; or a benefit for orphans in honor of Aquarians and humanitarians everywhere; or a new song inspired by this; or...

I could offer a thousand different ideas, but I want to let the Universe roll the dice and see what comes of this lunacy I'm compelled by.

~ Now you may be wondering already what's in this for you if you take the challenge.

{{{{ INFINITE POSSIBILITIES }}}

What this means is, that if you "play" for this result I'm asking for, you will have to dig deep into your creative and ingenuitive powers. You may have to step outside what you think is possible, rational, reasonable, or how you even identify with yourself.

"Who am *I* -to David Bowie?"

"He's a celebrity, and I'm a..."

"Why on earth would he possibly do this?"

The point is, who would you have to *BE* to enroll him?

By doing something as seemingly absurd as this, you could create connections or situations that would *never* have happened otherwise. You could open up undreamed of doorways, and discover something new about yourself that could change your life forever!

Dig deep and find your powers to manifest something fun and ridiculous -yet strangely meaningful at the same time! Who knows what timeless, memorable treasures you may discover by taking this challenge?

Don't forget, you have until this Monday, January 22nd -so get crackin'!

Yes, I know it's insane.

But as Abraham Lincoln once said:

"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."

And as Mr. Bowie said:

"Theres a starman waiting in the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds...

...Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie...

...If we can sparkle he may land tonight a ight!"

see what I mean Guys and Gals ?
one of the reasons I love tribe is
'cause I rather stay here with all the madmen *

Lucia
BTW if you have insights on thois one DO let me know ...

First off, the concert streams from Wolfgang's Vault are a treasure. It includes 3 Bowie concerts, one from 1976!
But here's the weird thing I stumbled across. This is from Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review in 1975 which featured Mick Ronson on guitar. This stream opens with Ronson doing a song called "Life on Mars?" which is NOT the Bowie song, but Ronson sings it sounding SO much like Bowie, it's eerie.

Borough of Bromley, London, Features DB in Museum Exhibit of Famous Native Sons & Daughters

UPCOMING EXHIBITION AT BROMLEY MUSEUM
*1st December 2006*
A saxophonist who walked on the wild side and a group of punks that made TV history are all to feature in a new exhibition. The borough's rock history will be charted in a new exhibition at Bromley Museum, due to open on *December 11th*.
A display charting *DAVID BOWIE's* early years in Bromley and Beckenham, where he invented his alter ego Ziggy Stardust, will feature in the exhibition. It will include a jacket, as featured in the Bromley Times, which Bowie wore when performing with The Konrads and later The Riot Squd in the 1960s.
Other music heroes, including Peter Frampton, Billy Idol, Siouxsie Sioux and Bill Wyman, and Ronnie Ross (David's sax teacher from Orpington) - who played the solo in Lou Reed's 'Walk On The Wild Side' - will also feature. Also at the exhibition in The Priory will be photographs and memorabilia from the punk movement, including information about the first Sex Pistols gig at Ravensbourne College in 1975.
The exhibition, at the museum in Church Hill, Orpington, runs from Monday, December 11, to Saturday, March 24, 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday. For more details, telephone 01689 873826 or go to bromley.gov.uk

"It's happened. At last. I've hit the Holy Grail of animation gigs. Yesterday I got to be a character on....tan-tara...SpongeBob SquarePants. Oh Yeah!! We, the family, are thrilled. Nothing else need happen this year, well, this week anyway.

My character in this special longform (I think a half hour special) show is called 'Lord Royal Highness'. Alrighteee!! It won't air unfortunately for another eight or nine months but then, watch out. Or at least watch."

Odd uses of DB's music

So, I was listening to moring edition on npr this morning cause I'm an npr nerd and they were finishing a report on lebanon when all of the sudden I hear "Lady from another grinnig soul" as an instrumental segue.

I thought, "How odd. Why didn't they choose Songs of the silent age, or Secret life of arabia".

That got me thinking, have any other DB fans heard his music used in an odd way, other than on TV shows like Crossing Jordan?

For those that don't know 'Extras' is the new UK sit-com featuring Ricky Gervais the star and co creator of 'The Office'. The new show is completely different although still use the same dryish humor. Anyway Bowie was on a recent episode of 'Extras' and was quite funny. Take a look: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/programmes/?id=extras Bowie appears near the end of the clip(series 2 episode 2).

There was a late '80s viddy featuring a really cool modern dance chick doing an extremely physical gracefully violent dance with DB. I can remember neither the song nor the choreographer. I want to find it on YouTube.

so, i'm sitting here at my desk listening to hunky dory while doing my inexplicable job - other people in my department don't even know what i do here. i sort of notice the music, mostly i concentrate on my work, and the song oh! you pretty things comes on. its then i realize, i will gladly make way for the homosuperior. bring them on! i am a cog in the machine, so really, why not? what have we got to lose.

that's all. gotta get back to work.

From David Bowie's website:

"I can't tell you how sad I feel. Syd was a major inspiration for me. The few times I saw him perform in London at UFO and the Marquee clubs during the sixties will forever be etched in my mind. He was so charismatic and such a startlingly original songwriter.

Also, along with Anthony Newley, he was the first guy I'd heard to sing pop or rock with a British accent. His impact on my thinking was enormous. A major regret is that I never got to know him. A diamond indeed." - David Bowie, July 11th 2006

Does any one here like KB??
I'm a member of the KBforum and we are forever (well, I am for sure) going on about what a great collaberation they would/could make. They are both theatrical and heavily influenced by dance and movement, both of them having studied dance with Lyndsay kemp at some point. I think that their voices and personas would work so well together.

You may not like Kate Bush, but for me, to see these two together would be fantastic, maybe too late now, but it would have been great. I know that Kate Bush is a huge fan of David's.....I wonder if they have ever considered it.

KB's new album by the way....Aerial, do you have it? just amazing!

Great interview...sorry this is the second part I think, you'd have to search for the other gems......This is my fave DB hairdo ^__^

And by the way, I discovered (as some of you know I'm a huge Kate Bush fan also) that they both sang Comfortably Numb with Dave Gilmore at different times obviously, but that's some coincidence hey!

Did anyone see the thing in Blender where they list the "Essential Bowie" through "Fans Only" stuff? Blender is a rag, but I was still puzzled by the things they chose to omit and some of the stuff they included. And then they gave Diamond Dogs only 2 stars?!? I won't argue that the Thin White Duke has some 2star crap, but I don't think Diamond Dogs is one of them?

Bowie in sabbatical

Bowie in sabbatical
(Wednesday May 03, 2006 10:09 AM)

David Bowie plans to take a year off from music, because he is "fed up with the industry".

The iconic rock star announced news of the sabbatical at a party last week, two years after undergoing heart surgery and famously quitting smoking.

Speaking about his decision not to play live or record for 12 months, Bowie told Vanity Fair: "I'm fed up with the industry. And I've been fed up for quite some time.

"I'm taking a year off - no touring, no albums. I go for a walk every morning, and I watch a ton of movies. One day, I watched three Woody Allen movies in a row."

Meanwhile, Bowie continues to champion new music, after playing with Arcade Fire last year and his interview with the Secret Machines, which was recently published in the UK press.

He continued: "I've been listening to Arcade Fire and Secret Machines and this great opera from the '80s called "Nixon In China". It's just that. He gets off the plane. He has dinner with Mao.

"Someday, I might do opera. But I don't have a musical in me, much less a vampire musical."

I was trying to remember the names of the tours I saw in the eighties. After the first one, I promised myself that if he played anywhere within six hours driving time, I'd be there.

China Girl and Glass Spider are the only ones I can come up with by name.

At the glass spider tour he had thre story scaffolding and was harnessed up and floated about a couple of different times. Peter Frampton played with him.

Club GOSSIP
Street date September 10, Saturday
An 80's New Wave Nightclub for dancing and your entertainment
At the Cat Club, every second Saturday in San Francisco

This month, a tribute to more than a man, or just a symbol, but both! Whatever you may call him, can we suggest 'Purple one', Prince has left his indelible mark on the music landscape. From his really early funky-pop, to the more slick and cohesive '1999' and the musical spectacular of his 'Purple Rain' era majesty, what really seemed to confuse folks was the name change to a symbol, 'the artist formerly known as prince' became the proper way to refer to the man now that his name was an unpronounceable symbol. It just left many of us bemused, did it not?

Join us as we try to make sense of it all, come down and enjoy the music videos we like to play for you, and yes, there will be a heavier dose of Prince videos than usual. We've been busy shopping for even MORE VIDEOS than before, and we're spending too much time watching them at home. We can hardly wait to share them with you all. Be sure to check out all the DJ's this month, all are really talented in their own way, I think it's our best lineup yet, we are confident you will agree.

Saturday September 10th
The DJ lineup this month is...
DJ Damon from 1984
DJ Melting Girl from Death Guild
DJ Low Life from New Wave City
DJ SHON from Heavy Petting

Hey, I love Wes Anderson and finally saw this movie, and quick note for Bowie fans, a minor character sings Bowie songs in portuguese, accompanying himself on guitar, throughout the movie -- wonderful! The movie is worth seeing anyway, and/but this is a bonus!

i've got a rare song called EVERYTHING IS YOU
written and recorded by David Bowie. The song was
demoed in May 1967 - shortly after sessions for his
debut album for Deram. According to Pegg, the song was
offered, without success, to Manfred Mann's producer
John Burgess. On 27 April 1968, Bowie contributed
backing vocals to a cover recorded by The Beatstalkers
at CBS Studios that was released as the B-side of
their June 1968 single 'Rain Coloured Roses'. Until
now, Bowie's version has never been distributed on the
bootleg circuit but as of a few months ago, it started to
appear on Ebay and it initially brought well over
$1000.

&/or

....from the same bootleg that appeared on
EBay. "Social Kind of Girl" was coupled with
"Everything is You" on the same mysterious acetate
that was first sold in 1996. "Social Kind of Girl" is
thus hypothesised (by Pegg) as a May 1967 demo.
Propaganda - has released an album of songs that uses
the method of combining her voice with a single
SATURDAY performed with only vocal and piano.

2. A classical interpretation of

So I was thrift store shopping over the holidays and picked up a VHS copy of this movie....has anyone here seen it? I've heard of it but had totally forgotten about it.....

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102313/

It of course stars Bowie, and also Rosanna Arquette, Marlee Matlin, and Ester Balint, who was in a few Jim Jarmusch films. I'm going to watch it soon, I'll give you the full report!
